Early Childhood Development

The ECD program focuses on the young children.  There are over 80 children at the Lula care centre and 40 at the K2 care centre.  All the children will receive breakfast, lunch and a snack in the afternoon.  The children learn rhymes and songs.  The care workers also help wash and mend clothes for the children.  The children are broken up into 3 groups:

  • The 0-2 year old group are fed, bathed and have their diapers changed.
  • The 2-4 year old group are called Grade 0.  They learn how to draw, write in a straight line, parts of the body and those types of things.  They also play indoor and outdoor games.
  • The group of 4 -6 year old group will be taught numbers, to count, life skills, how to write their name, about dangers and various other things.

Once the children go onto school, grades 1-7, they can come to the care centres at lunch time and receive some food.
