Safety for our K3 Computer school

Computer Safety for our K3 Computer School

We know we ask for a lot as all charities do, but we depend so much on your support. We are in the process of putting Doors and Windows butlers on one of our House at the K3 center were youth people are being skilled / trained on;

-Sewing,
-Beading,
-Carpentry, and
-Computer

Some of you might have been already heard about the challenge we had around late April this year, were 8 of our Computers that we use for the computer school got stolen. We have now found a better storage for our new computers, but on the very same premises of the K3 center.

Anyone who might want to lend a hand or donate so that our place that benefit the whole community of Masoyi, Youth (18 – 35 years old) people in particular, is safe. By helping donating with anything at all, that will make it possible to put those butlers in place on those Windows and doors , so that when we move in our new computers soon, they can be safe.

The Calvary Church team have once more on this year come and bless us here at Masoyi Home Based Care.

When it comes to the Home Based Care programme that is under the Masoyi Home Based Care project, there is a lot that we do, in fact, there is a lot that we have been doing for the past 17 years as we are doing the following:

  •       Home visits, cleaning and bathing
  •       Administering medication
  •       Home visit and DOT support to patients on TB treatment
  •       HCT during home visits and at Masoyi offices
  •       TB screening
  •       Awareness campaigns on HIV
  •       Adherence Support Groups
  •       Distribution of Female/ Male condoms
  •       MMC Awareness during home visit

And the Calvary Church teams that are always visiting us here has always made sure that they go to the community to visit those patients that Masoyi Home Based Care is looking after, as they always go deep of the rural area of Masoyi and provide their support to the patient, physical and spiritual support (Where they will at some point pray for the patients and encourage them with the word of God) support.

However, on this year as they always do like the previous years, they also pay their attention to the orphans and vulnerable children as they also made home visits, visiting those children from the destitute families and around the Masoyi area.

During their home visit to some of the orphans they have visited they have seen a need of making food gardens, food gardens that will help in terms of their food sustainability. On their last week here at Masoyi, the Calvary team had erected a fence to make a food gardens were they have planted vegetables for the children, that food garden will be a garden that belongs to two of the families on the Mahushu area. The team has also distributed food parcels and furniture to the families that were in desperate need of such.

Calvary team had also had a good time with children from Masoyi Home Based Care and those of High Point Worship House International at the High Point Church were over 200 children did attended and fed physically and spiritually. Lunch was served on the day, Games were played, Crafts were made, and a Bible story on the life of Jesus and the Fruits of the Spirits was taught. Fun was had by all young and old.

We are blessed so we can be a blessing to others

On their first full day on the ground, the South Africa team from the Cove Church spent their day visiting some of the orphan families they have been supporting from the previous years.

It was such an amazing experience as they were always going out there to the community visiting the orphans and making sure that their needs are being taken care of, and also making sure that they visit all the new houses that they in partnership with Masoyi Home Based Care have built for so many of the orphans children from the Masoyi community.

It was so amazing to see the whole Cove team working together with the Masoyi Home Based Care team and putting so much effort on making sure that they always reach out to the children each and every day, and brave the hot African sun and cold days to go out there do exactly what they came here in South Africa for.

Their main task was of course to put a good finishing for those houses that have been built recently by making sure that they paint them and make them look good as they are. As they were painting the home of Clarence and Themba who are two young orphans living on their own, such an act from the Cove team on the Clarence and Themba home has motivated Clarence to want to go and assist the Cove team on painting some of the homes they were painting. They also did such a wonderful job during their stay here with us as they also did able to paint some part of the Masoyi Home Based care hall that we use for community meetings and morning devotions.

The Cove team working with the Calvary team (Another church from the US) had also had a good time with children from Masoyi Home Based Care and those of High Point Worship House International at the High Point Church were over 200 children did attended and fed physically and spiritually. Lunch was served on the day, Games were played, Crafts were made, and a Bible story on the life of Jesus and the Fruits of the Spirits was taught. Fun was had by all young and old.

We are also so very thankful for the shed that the Cove team has helped built at the Masoyi Home Based Care premises near the gate for our security staff.

On their last week of their stay here with us the Cove team had a workshop with the children were they played, laughed, ate, sang, and two life skills lessons were taught by two older orphans. Small group discussions were held among the orphans as they shared their daily struggles and how they can work together to overcome them. It was all about building relationships and empowering these orphaned children with the resources they need to become the young men and women of God He created them to be.

As they go back to the US on this week, we pray that they have a safe journey and that God will bless them, and also bless everyone at the Cove Church who made it all possible for them to come here in South Africa, on the Masoyi community in particular, to bless us, the children, and share their love with all of the Masoyi community.

I was just on the YouTube looking at some old videos of Masoyi Home Based Care uploaded, I found this video uploaded 6 years ago, so I thought I could share it with you.

Empowering the leaders of tomorrow

The Masoyi Home Based Care Peer Education Programme aims to reduce the number of new HIV infections among youth people; to lessen the impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis on orphans and vulnerable children, young people, families and communities and to support education in difficult circumstances.

On its years of implementing the MHBC peer education programme, Masoyi home based care facilitators and peer educators has able to influenced so many of our youth to role model a healthy and enhancing behavior around our Masoyi Community and it has help most of our youth in terms of assisting on uplifting their communities.

Through this  programme we had able to address so many issues that are affecting our communities of the Masoyi tribal area, like the issue of domestic violence, crime, poverty, education, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, Abuse, HIV&AIDS, just to name a few of those issues. We have also seen a decrease of young people who are using drugs, involved in crimes and the issue of school dropout, and we have also seen a decrease on the issue of teenage pregnancy on the Masoyi area.

However we currently facing a challenge in terms of implementing this programme due to some of the challenges like having stipends for our facilitators, and also lack of administration (Stationary, Communication, etc. ) costs. Many of the schools we are working with are far apart from our main offices and each other and that makes it necessary for the facilitators to use transport going to those schools to facilitate those life skills of which a week it cost one facilitator around US$10.00 to travel to one school.

In case you would like to know much about this project and further on the challenges or might want to assist on any way, please contact us on: +27 (0)13 798 3596 or email us at: masoyi.hbc@gmail.com

Making an Impact

Image

Sometimes we wonder what will happen if we are to all come together with one common goal to make sure that we take care of the needs of all those who are orphans and vulnerable out there. That is actually a good question that one has to ask him or herself, and must be often followed by the question of; what is it that I do or can do to create a change and make better the lives of those who are destitute.

Often we see people who are in desperate need of our help and some of us we do help, but many of us we just ignore such people with this mentality that someone else will help them. Ever wondered that it is not actually MORE that you can give or do to make a change, but the little you have that you give is that little that goes a long way on making a different and turn someone’s life to better. After all; we all know that help doesn’t always comes in MONEY, but in various ways, you just have to know what is it that you have that you can give to someone to change and touch someone’s life. But what I know is that all of us have a potential to do well and touch so many people’s lives.

So many people, children in particular on the Masoyi community go to bed without any food or anything at all that they can eat. Some of them go to school without shoes, proper school uniforms and any other life necessities. However, Masoyi Home Based Care with the support of other stakeholders are doing their level best on making sure that they plays their part on helping to uplift the Masoyi community.

And you can also play your part on making sure that you help uplift the community of Masoyi, and particularly help on making sure that you make a positive change to someone’s life. For more information, please contact us on: +27 (0)13 798 3596 or email us at: masoyi.hbc@gmail.com

Support group for those living positive

Support group for those living positive

Picture1

We had on the month of may have a successful support group for the people living positive.

One of the purposes of having such a support group is that we want to make sure that all the people living positive come together and share their experiences and thoughts.

And it also a good thing as they encourage each other on such events.

This support groups are for people who have tested positive for HIV/Aids, we just want to make sure that they always adhere on their prescriptions and encourage them on taking their medications as prescribed to them.

Building for the orphans and vulnerable

Building for the orphans and vulnerable

The safety of our children is so important to us, and it is also so important that our children do have houses that are in good condition. And building proper houses for them that are what we have been doing the previous years were we partnered with churches like the Cove church (USA), the Chesterton church (UK), and individuals donators.

On this month we are building a house for one of our Child Headed House Holds Family.

This house is being built by Masoyi Home Based Care in partnership with the Chesterton Church from the United Kingdom.

And we believe that soon enough those children will be able to have a proper house they can sleep on that is without holes on the roof and it’s wall.

Like we always say that; it is by the help of everyone that is giving any kinds of support to Masoyi Home Based Care that it able to look after the OVC’s.
